Scarborough Elementary offers many opportunities for students to be involved in their school community. Please feel free to explore the different club choices offered at Scarborough. For additional information, do not hesitate to contact us with further questions.
ASL Club
American Sign Language (ASL) Club is taught by Marie Jones and Hanna Wise. They are both Children of Deaf Adults (CODAs) and have a deep love and respect for the deaf community and culture. Scarborough is one of the few elementary schools with a deaf and hard of hearing resource program. Marie and Hanna have a dream of deaf and hard of hearing students being able to communicate with their peers anywhere they turn.

Math Wings
Math Wings is an after-school club that meets once per week, primarily on Mondays from 4-4:45 p.m. All fourth and fifth graders who love math and enjoy a challenge are invited to join. This is for students who are able to work through complex and higher-level math questions, both individually and in teams. Scarborough Math Wings members will represent our school at regional and district competitions.
SC in Action
SC in Action is a leadership service club for fifth grade students who apply and agree to remain in good standing at school. They meet twice a month on Wednesdays from 4-4:45 p.m. SC in Action does a variety of projects for the community, school and teachers, including making dog treats for the animal shelter, collecting food and toiletries for the community, and making / giving small gifts for police, patients, school staff and families. Members also ring bells for the Salvation Army and take a field trip to help at Starfish Project.

Scarborough Speedsters Running Club
The Speedster's Running Club provides an opportunity to run and have fun with friends. Our young runners are empowered to improve their physical, mental and social wellbeing by building perseverance, confidence and more. Join the mighty, mighty Speedsters! The club is open to all students in third through fifth grade and meets after school from 3:55-4:45 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday in fall and spring. They run on the school and paths through Southdown and Palisade Park. Special events may include the Jared Coones Pumpkin Run in October and Heritage Park Run in May.

Special Chorus
Special Chorus is an opportunity for students to perform with a large choral ensemble and sing more challenging music than normally used in the general music classroom. The choir is open to any fourth or fifth grader excited about singing, ready to work hard, and willing to make the commitment to attend the rehearsals and performances. This is a non-auditioned group. Rehearsals are from 8:35-9:05 a.m. on Tuesdays (for fourth grade), Wednesdays (fifth grade) and Thursdays (both grades).
